There are many ways that families create timeless ways of passing down the family history, and creating a wedding scrapbook is something that many people are starting to do today. This is different from throwing some photos into an album from your wedding day. A wedding scrapbook will hold everything from photos to leaves, from invitations to a napkin. It displays pieces of your big wedding day that have a story to tell, that carry emotion with them; it's a wonderful treasure to add to your family and great way to start your new life together.
If you're planning your wedding, chances are you've been so busy and so wrapped up in the technical details that a wedding scrapbook is not really something that has crossed your mind
. Get yourself one, ask for one or add it to your registry so you have something to create your first family heirloom with and you can document the highlights and important parts of the day when your wedding day gets here. Years from now you'll open it and be reminded of the joy, laughter, romance and experiences of your wedding day. Someday your children and family will open it and be able to feel the magic of your day even when it's long gone.
You can ask a special friend or family member to take charge of your wedding scrapbook, too. This will take the all of the burden off your shoulders, as you'll have enough to do while planning your wedding day. Talk to them about the kinds of things you'd like to have in it and what you'd like them to do. They can keep notes, take photos, gather memorabilia to include, and put it all together. This makes for the perfect gift from them. A wedding scrapbook isn't something to be rushed, though. Tell them to take their time for actually putting it together. In fact, they could work on it while you're on your honeymoon.
If you're going to buy your wedding scrapbook, look for something that has the look, feel and style to match you and your fiance. Also be sure to choose something that will not easily gather wear and tear, but something made out of a material that will withstand the test of time.
